Measure 2.2 Transfer of technology and support services for emerging knowledge-based companies 

Operation 2.2.1. Science and Innovation Investment Fund

WHAT: Possible activities
  • Building entrepreneurial and intellectual property management skills in public institutions.
  • Development of infrastructural capacity in higher education institutions and research organisations to interact with business, particularly SMEs (establishing new and supporting existing business liason offices, technology transfer offices and knowledge transfer centres);
  • Commercialization activities (patenting and maintaining of patents; technology screening and patent valorisation; proof of concept development);
  • Enhancing science-industry collaboration (infrastructural investments in HEI and PRO enabling them to better serve industry needs; research-related infrastructure as a part of centralized R&D services to be used by university spin off/start-ups and knowledge based SMEs; technology mapping);
  • Programmes for effective networking and communication (developing innovative collaborative programmes between HEI and PRO and/or industry, e.g. business clubs; creating and developing business-friendly mechanisms and materials to promote and explain products, processes and services to industry and small businesses in the region).
Beneficiaries:
  • Higher education institutions (HEI) and public research organizations (PRO) and extended support for the commercialisation of public sector R&D activities.

Operation 2.2.2. Biosciences technology commercialisation and incubation centre (BioCenter)

This is a so-called major project which means its value is higher than 10 million euros. The planned infrastructure of the BlOCentre consists of business and laboratory space for the needs of small high-tech companies, and of a central laboratory adapted for the development cycle of bio-products. The central laboratory will be comprised of seven individual laboratories: a cell bank, a laboratory for cell cultures, a laboratory for microbial cultures, a laboratory for micro-organisms, a laboratory for isolating cell products, a bio analysis laboratory and preparation space for media and buffers.

Operation 2.2.3. Ensuring graphic processors as a resource in the area of advanced computing

WHAT: Possible activities
  • Procurement of graphic processors – GPU and integration into existing national grid infrastructure (CRO NGI)
